Olá! I’m Maria, a native Portuguese speaker from Portugal with a professional background in healthcare and experience teaching adults who are preparing to move to Portugal. I offer one-on-one online lessons designed around your personal goals, pace, and learning style.

My lessons are practical, flexible, and supportive. I begin by understanding why you want to learn Portuguese—whether it’s for daily life, work, travel, or connecting with family. From there, I create a customised plan that includes speaking, listening, reading, and cultural tips. I focus on real-world communication, using roleplay, conversation practice, visual materials, and clear explanations of grammar and pronunciation.

I currently work with two English speakers who are relocating to Portugal. Our sessions are friendly and focused, and we often practise real-life scenarios such as ordering in cafés, visiting a doctor, or introducing yourself. I regularly provide notes, simple exercises, and audio clips so students can review and practise between sessions.

My experience as an interpreter in NHS healthcare settings has strengthened my ability to communicate clearly, sensitively, and with cultural awareness. I’m patient, organised, and passionate about helping others feel confident using the language in everyday life.
