Maria Grenyer

I'm an encouraging and passionate English tutor who loves speaking to people from different countries and cultures and helping them achieve their objectives in English.
I've been tutoring kids from primary and middle school since 2018. Having studied psychology at the university, I gained the better understanding of human's mind, which I've used to my students' advantage, for example, playing games, using their school textbooks and resources from British Council for kids. That allows me to tailor my lessons to the students' needs.
Then I have been teaching children, teenagers and adults in an online school. My students have been different levels: from beginners to pre-intermediate. I've also participated in creating lessons for different levels: a course "Alphabet for adults", a course on English idioms and lessons for B1 and B2 which have made me confident and skillful in lesson and curriculum planing. It consists of a warmer and a lead-in which are aimed at engaging the student, a vocabulary connected with the topic of the lesson, listening, reading and grammar sections. I also usually include interesting and up-to-date idioms on the topic of the lesson and stimulating questions for discussion.
In my lessons I try to use communicative method of teaching, because I think speaking is an essential part of language.
I attempt to create a situation of success when the students feel encouraged and motivated to continue their studying.
When I teach, I aim to match my students' energy which is vital for making the students comfortable and confident.

In my free time I enjoy reading in Russian and English, writing short stories and poems. I also enjoy learning foreign languages: English (Proficient C2), German (Intermediate -Upper Intermediate B1-B2), and currently I am learning Italian by myself.
I love learning about new cultures and travelling. I also enjoy cooking and try to learn new recipes from different cultures.
