Dear Students
English can be a difficult subject.
Perhaps you associate it with the embarrassment of being forced to read Shakespeare out loud in class and struggling through the balcony scene in Romeo and Juliet. Or maybe it reminds you of that boring teacher who spent a whole lesson on the symbolism of the colour red in Of Mice and Men.
My aim as your tutor is not only to help you improve your analysis and understanding of the texts you read but also to inspire you in your learning journey by hopefully demonstrating just how fun and rewarding the study of literature can be.
I do not believe in a one-size fits all model of tutoring. My sessions are tailored to your priorities, interests and individual learning styles. They are purposefully designed to cater to a wide range of backgrounds and abilities. So, whether it’s your favourite subject and you plan on studying it at A-Level/University or you just want to pass your exams, there’s always room for you. At the heart of the service I provide is a non-judgemental approach to learning where any mistakes you make are regarded as opportunities for intellectual growth and knowledge consolidation. With me, there is no such thing as a ‘right answer’ or a ‘silly question’. From my experience, what makes someone good at English is not how much they know but how open they are to having their interpretation challenged and their willingness to consider different perspectives.
