All of my teaching is driven by two main priorities. Firstly, I always aim to tailor my teaching to your own personal learning style, with the aim of improving your autonomy as a self-directed learner. Secondly, I always tailor the content of my teaching to your learning objectives, covering a range of areas from exam preparation (GCSE / A-Level / IB Diploma / University Exam in English Language and Literature), delivery of additional support on course; helping international students prepare for University study in an English-speaking institution; or developing your English as a Foreign Language skills for professional advancement or personal development.
My particular specialty is working with younger students in the 16-25 age bracket (A -level or University-level students), but I also have extensive experience with EFL students, particularly international students who are between pre-intermediate and advanced level (B1 or above) and who are planning to apply to Universities in English-speaking countries. Having grown up in Switzelrand, and worked widely in the UK as well as continental Europe, I am perfectly fluent also in German, Italian, and French (native level), which means that I am particularly sensitive to the specific challenges of learners who are not native speakers of English. I particularly enjoy helping students in making the transition from a secondary school setting to a University environment, in all areas ranging from English Literature and Language to English for Academic Purposes or Academic skills, regardless of your chosen course of study. I also have extensive experience of working with UK-based Higher Education providers in management and quality assurance roles, so I bring a nuanced understanding of the challenges faced by international students transitioning into a UK HE setting. I wiil also be able to help you with personal statements and University applications, and can bring a particularly developed knowledge of the UK University environment, including admissions to Oxford, Cambridge, and other Russel Group Universities. I hold an MA from the University of Lausanne (Switzerland), an MPhil from the University of Glasgow, and a DPhil (or PhD) from the University of Oxford, all in English Language and Literature. I have also completed my CELTA training.
