I have over 30 years’ experience teaching in schools and tutoring privately from year 1 to adults. I have a BEd honours degree with QTS status and a Masters degree in the teaching and learning of English and Literacy. I have tutored children in English and maths for successful entrance to private schools, 11 plus selection and for SATs preparation at Key stages 1 and 2. I have tutored up to GCSE for the AQA syllabus in English language and literature. I have also tutored students for general catch up in English and maths at primary level. I have recent training in phonics programs for teaching early reading . I have a TEFL qualification for teaching students who are learning English as an additional language and experience with SEN learners. I have tutored face to face as well as online using Zoom. I am familiar with the curriculum and expectations for different year groups in state schools and am used to diagnostic assessment to plan for individual needs. I take personal interest and pride in helping children to achieve everything they are capable of and developing a good working relationship with them and their parents. I have a bank of resources, books and materials to hand as well as games and activities to aid learning. I can set homework and follow up activities as and when required. I have recently left classroom teaching for more flexible working hours and look forward to working with students who are keen to learn.
