Hi!

My lessons are structured around clear goals, with a focus on helping each student make consistent progress. I begin by assessing their current level and identifying the areas they need to improve. From there, I create a plan based on their individual needs, whether that is improving reading and writing, strengthening grammar and spelling, or supporting their schoolwork.

Lessons are based on a clear goal and may include reading aloud, phonics, comprehension questions, spelling tests, sentence building, punctuation, vocabulary and short writing tasks. We’ll work through questions together, correct mistakes and practise weaker areas. I will adjust the difficulty as the student progresses and revisit topics where they need further practice.

I may also set short homework tasks in between the lessons to reinforce what we have covered in the lesson. These give students the opportunity to practise independently and allow me to see which areas they have understood and which need further attention.

I keep track of the topics we cover and the student's progress, so each lesson has a clear purpose and builds on previous work. The overall aim is to work towards measurable improvement rather than simply completing individual lessons.

My approach is patient and supportive, while keeping lessons focused and purposeful. I understand sometimes children may feel like giving up, so I provide an environment where they feel safe to grow and learn without feeling pressured. I also provide weekly feedback to the child’s parents, letting them know what we have covered in lessons and particular things their child is improving on!
