I have been a lecturer for the past 5 years at one of the UK the outset of my teaching, I encourage students to be reflective learner so that when they qualify this skill becomes a second nature to them by promoting active learning rather than passive so that the students become critical thinkers.

I apply the principle by Benjamin Franklin and a Chinese scholar Xun Kuang who said respectively " Tell me and I forget; teach me and I remember; involve me and I learn". "Not to hear is not so good as to hear; not to see is not so good as to see; not to know is not so good as to know; not to do is not so good as to do" So aim to involve the students right from the start not only to enhance their learning but also to enjoy.

I have had the opportunity to plan and develop teaching sessions in line with the identified learning needs for the students. I have had comments from students such as “I love the way you teach, your passion for the profession, you are my social work role model.”
Another comment in an email by a staff member stated, “Your presentation was brilliant you have set standards for all of us”.

The previous class of 2024 expressed their gratitude in a card for my teaching style which they found interactive. One student stated quote “Thank you so much for making my first year a memorable one”.
