The structure of our sessions will depend on what you are hoping to get out of tutoring. My Master's degree at The Courtauld saw me specialise in American Art in the Age of Ecology, allowing me to explore the connections between art, the environment, and infrastructure. I find Art History is particularly exciting when it is approached in this interdisciplinary way, and I encourage students to follow their own interests and make connections across different subjects. I see this subject as a valuable way of developing skills in critical thinking, research, and writing that can be applied across the humanities.

I can adapt the pace, content, and format of lessons to suit each student, whether you are working towards an exam, university application, or simply want to learn more about art.

For a beginner, we might work chronologically through key works and movements in the Western cannon, building an understanding of influential artists and movements also developing the visual anaylsis skills that you need to look at an artwork critically and and confidently.

For A-Level students, I can work directly from the syllabus, helping you develop stronger skills in visual analysis and essay writing.

For undergraduate students, I can tailor sessions to your modules. This might involve discussing set readings, preparing for essays or presentations, developing research questions, or working through areas of a course that you would like to explore in greater depth.

I have experience leading gallery talks and discussions at The Courtauld Gallery in London and Bristol Museum & Art Gallery, and I love talking about this subject and opening it up to new people. As I am building my one-to-one tutoring experience, I am currently offering sessions at a lower introductory rate.
