Each student is individual and so requires individually tailored methods to most effectively teach them. That being said, maths natually lends itself to teaching/learning via examples. In the past I have taught maths in this manner; via examples and heavy student interaction. I would be amenable to more traditionally teaching maths via decree if a student requires it however.
