---Extensive 1:1 Tutoring Experience with SEND---
In the past year, I have provided consistent 1:1 mentoring to six SEND students, of which four have EHC Plans. This has included (but not been limited to): cross-curricular homework support for a Year 7 student, teaching Python as Alternative Provision (AP) to a Year 10 student, and providing 12 hours of support per week to a disabled Year 12 student in Engineering, Applied Science, and Sport Science BTECs. Throughout this, I have worked extremely closely with SENDCos and AP Leads, and have been frequently consulted for professional input such as statutory EHC Plan Reviews.
---Specialised Academic Mentoring for Government and Politics---
I hold a First Class Honours degree in Politics and International Relations, with particular specialisation in the Politics of Nuclear Weapons and Cybersecurity. I studied at the University of Leicester and benefitted immensely from being taught by leaders of the European Research Group’s Third Nuclear Age project as well as being taught by subject experts that have worked with national and international governments and agencies.
---Personal Interests---
I’m a huge believer that showing a human side makes a massive difference in both tutor-student relationships and relationships with parents and carers, so I wanted to share a bit about myself outside work and education!
I’m an avid fan of video games, movies, and tabletop games - particularly fantasy and science fiction. My own studies and profession also genuinely translate into interests as I’m quite obsessed with the intersection between economics, geography and politics (particularly when it hits the water or ventures into outer space), and of how neurodiversity can be capitalised on in education respectively. I’ve also found myself engrossed in the world of car modifications recently, so that’s also been a fun learning experience!
---DBS Checks---
I am fully DBS checked at the Enhanced standard.
