I am a teacher of Humanities and Classics at a leading independent school as well as an academic coach for busy teenagers. I enable young athletes, performers and those with commitments outside of school to thrive. I teach students the cognitive science behind memory, understanding and exam success so they can fit in everything they need to without risking poor grades, giving up their extra-curricular passions, or burnout. I work on both concrete revision strategies but also the student's mindset; seeing revision as a process of hunting out the gaps in knowledge and celebrating finding these, rather than beating themselves up for not knowing everything already, can make an enormous difference to a student's motivation and wellbeing.

I have 20 years' teaching and school leadership experience and have worked with Football League clubs to support their academy players with their study and time management skills. I also work with parents to help them understand their teenager's perspective and reduce conflict and friction at home where exams are placing additional stress on already busy, high-performing families.

If you are concerned that your child doesn't know how to revise effectively, or is at risk of burning out or giving up the things they really love, such as sport, music or performing arts, then get in touch. I can help them see a way forward to protect their wellbeing, look after their body and their brain, and achieve their true potential in both their academic and extra-curricular endeavours.

I work 1-1 or with groups of up to four students, teaching a course of study and revision skills, or longer term coaching programmes tailored to the needs of the students over a period of time. Many families work with me up to mocks and are able to go forward confidently into GCSE, A level or finals season independently; others come to me after mocks after disappointing results, having tried to work things out by themselves but found the support they receive from school hasn't worked. Either way I can help your teenager build a mindset that will lead to improved wellbeing and grades without giving up the activities they love outside the classroom.
