I teach my lessons in a supportive, patient and encouraging way, creating a comfortable environment where students feel confident asking questions and making mistakes. I adapt each lesson to the student’s individual needs, explaining topics clearly and breaking difficult problems into manageable steps. I would celebrate progress, build confidence and use different methods and examples to help students understand and enjoy maths.

I use a range of methods to make lessons engaging and effective, including worked examples, step-by-step explanations, practice questions and visual aids. I first identify areas the student finds challenging, then focus on these through targeted activities. I use regular mini-quizzes and recap questions to check understanding, while encouraging students to explain their reasoning so I can identify and address any gaps in knowledge.

I provide extra support for SEN students by adapting my teaching style to suit their individual needs and learning preferences. I would use clear, simple instructions, visual resources, colour-coding and step-by-step examples where helpful. I allow extra time when needed, repeat or rephrase explanations without judgement, and regularly check understanding. My aim is to create a calm, patient environment where students feel comfortable, supported and confident in their abilities.
