Lucy Ann Williams

I am an experienced musician and teacher and can also teach writing. I read English at Oxford University and Singing at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester as a postgraduate. I am a competent pianist and fluent in German. I enjoy helping other people to enjoy words and music. I am here to help you on your learning journey.

I started learning oboe and piano and singing in choirs at school and church. As I progressed I was able to take part in orchestras as an oboist and chamber choirs. Eventually I decided to become a professional musician and train at music college. Since then I have mostly performed as a singer in the classical field, but I also enjoy other music, like folk, ambient, chill-out, world, sacred and experimental electronic and acoustic music. I like singing from the piano and I write creatively.

I bring this experience to my teaching practice and meet you where you are to help you develop your music making. I am a good listener and enjoy helping people to develop a personalised learning plan with set goals and pieces to learn in preparation for performances or enjoyment.

I have taught in schools and taught adults as well. I am currently teaching online but may be able to expand this to an in-person practice if I find the right location! I like to work in an organised fashion and usually expect students to have the same lesson slot each week and book ahead for a month of lessons in advance so that I can plan my teaching studio and we can aim for structured learning and good progress.
