When choosing me as a tutor, I schedule an introductory session in which I get to know the student better with regards to their current ability, studying habits, and ambitions. With this in mind, I can better understand the student’s goals and adapt our lessons to achieving them. My key areas of focus in lessons consist of:

- Essay planning and writing skills
- Becoming more analytical and evaluative when writing
- Answering exam questions in a way which caters to examiners to maximise marks
- Developing strengths and addressing weaknesses specific to the student
- Developing skills in time management and prioritisation of organising work
- Going through, understanding, and applying feedback from their teachers
- Teaching students how to apply revision learnt in tutoring to their own self study and practice

I find that a balance is needed between tutor-led and student-led sessions. Although my comprehensive lessons are beneficial, a key part of a student’s learning process is being able to identify their areas of weakness and what can be improved upon through feedback from their teachers or tutors, and learning how to independently choose and organise their education thereafter, a process wherein I can support them every step of the way.

Whether it’s an intensive pre-exam season session, or just a lesson going through a topic the student is having trouble fully grasping, I can guarantee my tutoring is engaging, supportive, and based on my personal techniques and skills which I have developed as a high achieving student.
