My experience includes working with children aged from leading and planning lessons and producing supporting materials for students with special needs. Demonstrating proficiency in classroom management, as well as promoting students’ excellence through various group activities during lesson time.
Throughout my experience of PGCE year, I have developed strong knowledge of current educational developments. A current problem I have enjoyed exploring is the achievement gap between disadvantaged learners and their more gifted peers. As an outstanding teacher, I aim to carefully plan lessons to engage all students, and encourage all to pursue excellence, regardless of their starting points. Through a mix of activities, my aim is to create a climate where students are free to experiment, trying new things, getting stuck, but never giving up.
While a teacher must equip students with the assessment objectives needed to pass exams, I want all students, regardless of their disposition, to reach their full potential. Despite such obstacles, I want to be committed to giving students the absolute best life chances: encouraging high aspirations and coaching self-belief. I want every child to leave my class saying: “I did it”, for this is what being a teacher is all about.
