I have retired after 20 years working as a teaching assistant, supporting KS3 and KS4 children in English and Maths. Now I have 2 students whom I support online , in English. I thoroughly enjoy interacting with the children and get a lot of satisfaction as they progress in small, steady steps. I challenge myself to make my lessons relevant and engaging for them, with the right balance between easy-fun and serious- hard. Since I am supporting English at present, I aim for my learners to have the chance to read, become familiar with richer but unfamiliar words and them to make meaning through writing at every session. I aim to encourage them to work independently so that they can be proud of their achievements.
