Liv Kurlbaum

My lessons are easy-going, flexible, and designed to make music theory make sense for you. My lessons can be tailored for both complete beginners or those preparing for a Grade 5 exam. I have been teaching music theory for over two years now and love helping students understand previously foreign concepts. I have an A* in A-Level Music, a Grade 8 in Piano (Merit), and an ARSM Performance Diploma (Merit). I believe that a good foundation in theory has enhanced my experience of playing the instrument.

We'll concentrate on you and your goals throughout our lessons. We'll break down tricky concepts like harmony, structure, and notation with relevant examples, exercises, and listening. If you're working towards a specific grade or exam, I can guide you through the syllabus at your own speed with focused practice and comment. If you're learning theory as a hobby, we can learn at your pace and focus on whatever aspect you're most curious about.
