My lessons are structured but always tailored to the individual student, as I believe everyone learns differently. I usually begin by identifying the student’s current understanding of a topic, which allows me to target any gaps in knowledge before building up the content step by step. I focus on ensuring the student is confident with the fundamentals before moving on to application.
A key part of my teaching approach is using exam questions and past papers as the main learning tool. Rather than just learning content in isolation, I guide students through exam-style questions so they can understand how topics are actually tested. This helps them develop strong exam technique, improve their timing, and become familiar with common question styles and mark schemes. As we progress, I increasingly use full or sectioned past papers to simulate real exam conditions and build confidence under pressure.
I also use active learning throughout the lesson by asking regular questions, encouraging students to explain concepts back in their own words, and working through problems together step by step.
I am a patient, approachable, and adaptable tutor with strong communication skills. I have experience supporting primary school children through my mum’s childminding setting and assisting pupils during a school placement in medical school. I have also helped friends and my sister with GCSE and A-Level Biology, Chemistry, and Psychology, focusing on exam questions and understanding key concepts. These experiences have strengthened my ability to explain topics clearly and build students’ confidence.
