Hello, I’m Lisa Falconer, Founder of The Avid Seamstress sewing patterns.

With over 28 years sewing experience I now own and run a sewing pattern brand in Dorset. I teach many sewing workshops and 1:1 lessons.

I focus very much on all the elements of sewing which include the preparation; pinning, cutting and getting your garment ready to sew. I absolutely love teaching sewing and seeing so many of my students fall in love with sewing. My studio is absolutely gorgeous with large tables and plenty of space. I have sewing machines and overlockers and can guide you on buying your first machine or teach you how to use your machine to it's best capability.

I have many sewing patterns that are suited for all levels. Lessons are usually 1- 2 hours and we'll set a plan for your own personal sewing journey. I'll be able to guide you on fabric and haberdashery and introduce you to the amazing world of sewing. Already a seasoned sewist and looking to develop your skill? Absolutely! We can advance your skill and also look at your current sewing techniques to develop your skill further.

I am happy to teach group lessons and these can be arranged. Looking forward to meeting and sewing with you!
