As an enthusiastic student myself, I know what it is like to struggle in school. I know what it is like to be stuck on a question for hours or lose confidence in yourself because you cannot understand a topic. Not only is it tiring but it can also damage your self esteem. That's why I am offering my tutoring services. I believe that by providing that extra support, you have the opportunity to excel in your studies. Every student is capable of achieving high grades, they just need the right teacher and I know that I can be that teacher for you.
In a lesson, I believe that each person has their own style of learning. That is why I am able to adapt my teaching style to fit my student's needs. My end goal for my students is to not only understand a topic, but to excel in it and achieve the highest grade possible. However, as much as I believe that the end goal is important, I know first hand that the journey there is equally as important. My teaching environment is comfortable for my students, as well as motivating. In most cases, the struggles of learning is not the actual content but the motivation to learn. From my experience as working as a tutor for nearly a year, I have seen my students struggle with demotivation and restlessness which is how I adapted my teaching to overcome these struggles. I provide them with regular breaks and motivational talks as well as constant reminders of what they are working towards.
Finally, I believe that the key to a good student is a good parent, which is why I provide regular feedback to parents to ensure that they are updated on their child's progress and can take the necessary steps required to help their child excel.
I am aware that you may have some doubts so I will address the most common ones down below:
- You are very young and a student yourself, how do I know you are suitable to teach my child?
I've had nearly a year of experience working at an established and respectable tuition centre near me. I have worked with a number of students of all ages and developed a number of skills that have allowed me to develop confidence in my teaching abilities. I understand that my age may cause you to doubt my expertise which is why I offer the first lesson for free which you are welcome to sit in on to ensure that my teaching abilities are to your liking.
- When are you available?
Although I am a full time student attending a sixth form college, I am flexible Tuesday - Thursday from 5:30pm - 8:30pm as well as weekends from 1pm - 9pm. My availability changes during school holidays in which I will notify you about.
- What subjects do you have experience in teaching?
I have a year's experience in teaching Maths and English at a tuition centre which also includes SAT's preparation. Although my focus at this tuition centre is KS1 and KS2, I have also covered secondary school math lessons.
- You will be attending university next year, will you continue to teach then?
I am unaware of what the future entails but as of now, I plan to continue teaching online in university. Of course, my availability may change but nothing that I am aware of right now.
- What platform will you be using for online lessons?
I will be using Zoom as I am familiar and comfortable with it, having used it many times for professional meetings. My IT skills are quite professional and I will be using Google drive to share files.
Here are the details of my lessons:
- Minimum of 2 hours a week
- My lessons are £10/hour for KS2 maths and £15/hour for KS3 maths
- SAT's preparation is £13/hour
