It is a privilege to be art artist, and it all starts with encouragement! My art lessons are tailored to each student's interests, whether they're picking up a pencil for the first time or preparing for GCSE, A Level or a portfolio.
Having trained within a contemporary art context at the Edinburgh College of Art, working in video, sculpture and collaborative art, then specialising in painting, drawing and printmaking, I have a vast vocabulary from which my students will be able to draw.
Additionally, I have spent summers at the Florence Academy of Art and London School of Fine Art, both ateliers which will allow me to teach core technical skills and principles fundamental to any form of art practice.
With an A* in both Art and History of Art A level, 85% in my Visual Cultures dissertation, modules in History of Art and English throughout my time at university (Edinburgh University and the University of British Columbia), all of which I gained First Class grades for, I am enthusiastic to bring this context into my teaching.
Additionally, I am available to tutor in History of Art in and of itself. My specialisms are Italian Renaissance, French Avante Garde, America in the late 20th Century, Indigenous Canadian Art, The Pre-Raphaelites, Arts and Crafts Movement, YBAs, Glasgow Colourists, among others. The fundamental skills can be applied to any area!
My aim is to make every lesson enjoyable, inspiring and a place where students feel free to experiment, ask questions and grow as artists. With my varied interdisciplinary and academic background, I can tailor lessons to individual's interests and needs. My history of art teacher at school, and art tutor at uni have really inspired me and supported my work. I will never forget it and hope to support students with a similar passion and encouragement!
