In my tutoring lessons, I specialise in GCSE English Literature, English Language, and History, with a clear focus on helping students build knowledge, confidence, and exam technique. Having achieved grade 9s in all three subjects at GCSE and now studying History and English Literature at A level (predicted A*), I know the exam specifications in detail and understand exactly what examiners are looking for.
Every lesson is carefully tailored to the needs of the individual student. In English Literature, I guide students through planned essays, helping them to improve structure, develop insightful arguments, and engage with themes, characters, and context. We regularly use past and practice questions, and I set targeted essay homework which we then review together, allowing students to see their progress and refine their approach.
In English Language, I focus on key techniques such as analysing language and structure, improving descriptive and transactional writing, and building effective comparisons between texts. I also place strong emphasis on exam strategies so students feel confident under timed conditions.
In History, I help students master source analysis and evaluation of interpretations, alongside constructing clear, well-structured essays. Discussions play an important role, as I believe that talking through humanities topics is one of the most effective ways to consolidate understanding. I also use mind maps, essay plans, and worked examples to make revision more efficient and focused.
Ultimately, my lessons are engaging, supportive, and entirely personalised. Whether through structured practice, open discussion, or targeted techniques, I aim to equip every student with the skills and confidence they need to succeed and achieve their best possible results.
