I have two degrees from the University of Cambridge in English literature and composition. Additionally, I have two years of experience in private tutoring. My lessons are relaxed, supportive, and always shaped around the individual student. Before we begin, I like to get a sense of what the student is working on, what they find challenging, and what they want to feel more confident about, whether that's reading comprehension, essay writing, creative writing, or spoken English. From there, I build sessions that feel clear, structured, and manageable.

A typical lesson usually combines discussion, guided explanation, and practical exercises. When we’re working with texts, I’ll often go through them together with the student, helping them break down meaning and think about how to express their ideas clearly. With writing, I focus on taking things step by step, from planning and structuring ideas to improving clarity and refining expression. With younger students, I try to keep things interactive and engaging, so they feel involved and confident rather than pressured.

Working with students of different ages and abilities has taught me how important it is to be patient, flexible, and encouraging, especially in an online setting where communication needs to be very clear and supportive.

Alongside tutoring, I work as a literature editor and writer, which means I spend a lot of time helping people develop their ideas and improve their writing. I bring this same calm, step-by-step approach into my teaching, focusing on building understanding as well as confidence.

Most importantly, I want students to feel comfortable in lessons — to ask questions freely, make mistakes without pressure, and positively see their progress over time.
