We will work together at the beginning of sessions to consider your personal goals, and I will help create action-based, individualised plans to reach them. I believe in the effectiveness of student-based learning, allowing you to use your lessons as you see fit. We can research and work to deepen your understanding of specific artists, histories and methodologies, explore hands-on techniques, and proactively critique and assess your level of working. I can help to develop sketchbook-based learning, give direction to a project, engage with art history in a meaningful, critical way, and, overall, assist in developing your coursework into something you feel proud of and achieve highly from!

In a structured lesson, we might use PowerPoint slides to cover topics and refer to literature, concepts, artworks or exhibitions that will assist in developing your work. I can also offer 1-1 workshops and advice in a wide variety of techniques, including: lino-printing, needle felting, zine making, collage, painting, drawing, sculpture, writing, Procreate, working with archival material, performance art and many more. If it is writing you are struggling with, I will help you untangle your thoughts and use structured methods of writing about your work.

I know how personal art can be, so I place working alongside your own interests, where possible, at the centre of my tutoring. After having a hard time in school myself, I believe that art can be a deeply empowering way not only to express yourself, but also to develop confidence in all academic subjects.
