I have lived in mainland China and taught at major education centres including EF, American Eagle Institute and the International Institute of Education (i2). I have specialised in teaching sentence structures, vocabulary and phonetics at different levels. My students have learned to apply this knowledge through role-play, drama and other fun activities in an immersive context. Indeed, one of my greatest strengths is my ability to communicate, plan and manage time. Therefore, I always encourage my students to develop their critical thinking and interests through English as much as possible. I convey my ideas and thoughts to the students in a concise manner, valuing the ideas of the students themselves. In this way, I ensure that they are listened to and understood, which in turn enables them to build confidence and use the language freely and fluently without pressure
I have learned the effectiveness of non-verbal communication in managing behaviour and the power of setting a positive tone from the start of a lesson. It is encouraging to see how all of this comes together to create a productive and successful learning environment for the whole class. I have enjoyed gaining experience in teaching a class and finding out what teaching style is most effective for each category. I hope to observe and try out more strategies in the future.
As a result, I have been awarded Best Teacher in Lesson Planning and recently promoted to Star Teacher, a testament to my hard work, passion and commitment. This particular role allows me to take on more responsibility as an English teacher while learning more about classroom management techniques in a diverse, English-speaking environment. I am fully aware of the expectations placed on teachers. This includes creating and maintaining accurate records of student performance. This was my responsibility in relation to the students I taught at the tutoring centre and my supervisor praised my efficiency in this area, which in turn made his job easier. Accurate and timely assessment of all students' work is crucial so that an appropriate level of support can be offered and students can progress effectively.
