I would start by having a conversation with my student to assess the level they're currently on to see which are the areas of improvement and personalise their experience. With that said, I tend to use more engaging methods to teach Spanish, like using songs in Spanish and teaching them, but I'm also open to teaching through flashcards. At the end of each lesson I would try to have a conversation with the student (In Spanish) about what they learned that day, as it would ensure that they understood the lesson.
