Hi! I’m a dedicated maths tutor with a Grade 8 in GCSE Maths, and I’m passionate about helping younger students feel more confident and capable in their maths abilities. I know that maths can sometimes feel confusing or frustrating, but I believe that with the right support and a bit of encouragement, anyone can improve and even enjoy learning maths.

I’ve had the opportunity to tutor two students in preparation for their 11+ entrance exams. One of those students successfully passed and earned a place at a grammar school, which was an incredibly proud moment for both of us. Through that experience, I learned how to adapt my teaching style to suit each student’s learning pace, identify gaps in their understanding, and build strong foundations that lead to real progress.

My lessons are carefully structured but always flexible, depending on what the student needs most. I usually begin with a quick warm-up or a short review of what we covered in the last session, just to refresh memory and build confidence. Then, we move on to the main topic of the day, where I explain the concept step by step using simple language, diagrams, and real-life examples. I always encourage students to ask questions, and I go at their pace to make sure they really understand before moving on.

We then spend time working through practice questions together. I start with easier problems to build confidence and gradually increase the difficulty as the student becomes more comfortable. I also include mini quizzes or quick games to make the sessions engaging and help reinforce key skills. At the end of each lesson, we recap what we’ve learned and I give a few tips or techniques to help with remembering tricky parts.
