I think practice is key to mastering maths, of course you have to have adequate knowledge but you must be able to apply this knowledge to truly grasp the topic. I have tutored children struggling in maths before and testing their knowledge provides a baseline and helps me to identify where there is room for improvement.I thinks its amazing to see a students arc as they start to understand maths a lot more and find it less frustrating, I like to try and reflect my love for the subject onto my pupils and encourage them to eventually love it as well.
