Hi, I’m Lauren—and my English lessons are designed to be inclusive, engaging, and empowering. I believe that literature and language give us tools to understand ourselves and the world, so I create a space where every student feels safe to explore, question, and grow.
Lessons typically begin with a clear learning objective and a short, accessible starter to spark curiosity. We move through a mix of reading, discussion, writing, and reflection—often working in pairs or small groups to share ideas and build confidence. I use a range of texts, from Shakespeare to contemporary poetry, and I always aim to make content relevant and thought-provoking.
You’ll find my classroom structured but warm. I use consistent routines and expectations to support behaviour, alongside restorative conversations and positive reinforcement. I understand that life outside school can affect how we learn, so I meet students with empathy and high expectations.
I’ve taught across Key Stages and worked with learners from diverse backgrounds, including those with SEND and SEMH needs. I also bring experience from safeguarding and advocacy roles, which helps me support students holistically.
Above all, I want you to feel seen, heard, and challenged—to find your voice and enjoy the journey of learning English
