I have taught for over a decade in Higher Education, working to support students to succeed and thrive in their educational studies through lessons that are supportive, engaging, dynamic, and focused on the individual's needs. I love helping students to understand complex issues and theoretical, historical topics, and fostering ways of learning that can be tailored to the way my students learn best.
I tend to work from the place of the student, understanding their interests, ambitions, and passions, to ensure teaching is structured carefully around content that makes sense to the student and is the right fit for their own aims.
I tend to encourage active lessons, where there is a dialogue between tutor and student, and where learning can take place through active-learning principles and flipped classroom techniques. I enjoy creating lessons which are interactive, and contain a mixture of foundational material that needs to be learnt, alongside some more activity-based approaches to learning.
I ensure lessons are scaffolded to support the learner through a series of exercises and activities that build on the learning previously undertaken - and that can push the learner in the right direction to encourage challenging, but safe, secure, environments.
I specialise in object-based learning and teaching in galleries and museums. However if working online, I love to ensure students are equally stimulated and engaged by the lesson, with methods that include small set tasks, quizzes, short writing exercises and creative, visual analysis and written analysis methods.
I prefer to work carefully and constructively with the learner or group of learners to deliver exceptional results.
