I have had a lot of training when it comes to presenting English lessons. I enjoy using a phonographic approach to teaching phonics and I believe spelling should be taught in every aspect of this subject whether it is creative writing or structural writing. I like to make lessons relatable for my students . I really enjoy using VCOP in order to engage the students in the writing process. This entails bringing the theme that we are working with to life - so for example if the task was to write a diary entry for an Egyptian Pharoah , we would first explore what life was like and try to capture the mood - experiment with descriptive language , discover new vocabulary perhaps bring in some dramatisation - before doing a "Big Write " .
A big write is where students are given the opportunity to write their piece with no interruptions in a setting that creats the correct mood for a good piece of writing.
