My flute lessons are designed to be friendly, supportive and enjoyable. They are especially ideal for beginners and younger learners who want to build confidence while having fun. Each session follows a clear and simple structure that helps students understand what we are working on and why, while still keeping the atmosphere relaxed and encouraging.
We usually begin with gentle warm ups to help students settle in. This includes basic breathing exercises, long tones and posture checks to create a strong foundation. I explain each step in an easy and understandable way, and I demonstrate techniques so students can see and hear the goals we are aiming for. After warm ups, we move on to short exercises that develop tone, articulation and finger coordination. These activities are always suited to the student’s current level so they feel challenged without feeling overwhelmed.
The main part of the lesson focuses on learning pieces that match the student’s ability and interests. I believe that students progress best when they enjoy the music they are playing. Because of this, I encourage them to choose songs they like, while also suggesting pieces that will help them learn new skills. I guide them carefully through difficult parts, help them practise tricky notes or rhythms and celebrate their improvements as they grow more confident.
As a younger teacher, I remember clearly what it feels like to learn an instrument from the beginning. I use this experience to explain things with patience and clarity. My lessons are positive, flexible and centred around each student’s pace. My aim is always to help students feel proud of their progress and excited about playing the flute.
