My lessons are calm, structured, and supportive, designed specifically to meet the needs of students with Special Educational Needs from KS3 to GCSE. I specialise in English Language and have experience working with a wide range of learning profiles, including students with hearing impairments, ADHD, autism, and language processing difficulties. Every session is tailored to the individual learner, focusing on building confidence, improving core literacy skills, and preparing for exams where appropriate.

Lessons typically begin with a quick review to activate prior knowledge and settle into the session. I use clear visuals, scaffolded activities, and step-by-step modelling to break down tricky concepts in reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Students are encouraged to ask questions and think aloud, and I always provide lots of positive feedback to build motivation and self-esteem.

Whether we’re exploring non-fiction texts, practising exam skills, planning creative writing, or building functional vocabulary, I aim to make each lesson engaging, relevant, and manageable. I regularly check understanding and adjust the pace depending on how the student is feeling that day.

I’ve taught English in both group and 1:1 settings, and I understand the importance of flexibility, routine, and building strong relationships. My goal is always to help students feel safe, heard, and proud of their progress — no matter where they’re starting from.

I also help students develop revision strategies, time management, and independent learning habits that will support them beyond tutoring. Above all, I strive to make learning enjoyable, accessible, and genuinely empowering for every student I teach.
