Maths. You either love it or hate it. Well not anymore. Using Google Meet, my students and I can not see everything that is happening in the books. This is why I encourage my students to use a dry erase whiteboard that they can use for work that we are going through together. I will also use a whiteboard that I can hold up to the camera. This way, annotations and technique will become much clearer. Questions to work through will be screenshared, but if that is not preferred, the work can also be sent to the students through email. Homework is optional and up to the parents of the child. However, I do believe that practice truly makes perfect when it comes to maths, which is why the student may need some extra work, which I will have prepared and sent to the student through email. A work book is ideal as the student can copy up examples that they can refer back to in the future. To make the environment more relaxed, the student can call me by my name as I believe that can break a large portion of the awkward first encounter. I look forward to teaching anyone who's up for a challenge!
