Focus Areas

For secondary school to university students my focus is on thesis, coursework essay, exam and entrance essay support — from brainstorming ideas to refining clarity, phrasing and grammar. I have particular experience in English and Humanities (Philosophy, Theology etc).

I also tutor English as a second language for international learners and have taught children in pre-prep and primary school, developing their English, Verbal and Non-Verbal skills for entrance essays and general learning support.

Teaching Approach & Methodology

Every lesson is fully personalised. The first session is an introduction to your preferred way of working, so we can build a structure that feels natural and encouraging for you. My lessons are informal, interactive, and confidence-focused, combining discussion, practical exercises, and detailed feedback.

For ADHD and neurodiverse learners, I use short, engaging tasks, visual aids and time-based activities to keep lessons stimulating and structured. For older students, I offer ADHD-friendly essay and revision techniques that make writing and studying more manageable and rewarding.

I guide students through every stage of the writing process - from brainstorming and structure to phrasing and precision - and can look over essays and notes in-between sessions to make the most of our session times. My goal is always to help students see that success comes from approach, not innate ability and to build genuine confidence in their skills.

Lesson Details

Lessons are typically one hour long and held weekly (though scheduling is flexible). I also offer one-off sessions, and for essay-based subjects, I can review work beforehand so we can make the most of our time together.

Experience & Qualifications

I hold first-class degrees from Cambridge and Durham, where I studied Theology and Philosophy. I have tutored students from primary to master’s level and taught creative writing workshops. I’m experienced with neurodiverse learners, particularly ADHD students, and have supported students in achieving first-class and distinction-level results.

My experience includes:

- University essay and dissertation refinement (clarity, structure, and argument development) resulting in distinction-level grades.

- Entrance essays and CV editing resulting in acceptance from top universities.

- Primary school tutoring in verbal/non-verbal reasoning and maths resulting in multiple grade level jumps.

- English language tutoring for international students resulting in improved integration and positive feedback.

- Mentoring for students with learning differences resulting in practical tools for academic learning, writing and time management and overall success.

Who My Lessons Are For

I work with students of all levels from primary school pupils preparing for entrance exams to university students developing advanced essays or dissertations.

Personal Philosophy

What I enjoy most about tutoring is seeing confidence grow and helping students realise that their ideas are stronger than they think. My approach is personal, thorough, and holistic: I meet each student where they are and support them all the way through. Progress is tracked through ongoing discussion, reflection and visible improvements in clarity, confidence and written work.
