I am a trained mathematics teacher and have been teaching for over 10 years. I teach maths at the secondary level, which includes KS3 maths all the way up to ALevel maths. I have been doing part time tutoring for the past 4 years, mostly to GCSE and Alevel students. I have done face-to-face lessons, but have changed to online lessons since covid. Now that the pandemic has passed, however, my tutor sessions can be either online or face-to-face depending on what the client prefers. My lessons are tailored to meet the needs of each individual student. I will follow their curriculum that their school uses, but I assess and adjust as necessary to enable my students to maximise their full potential. I teach new topics, offer homework assistance, and also do exam preparation. My sessions are mostly one-to-one, but small groups are also accommodated.
My online sessions are delivered via zoom. The student is sent the material to be used in advance, as well as the zoom link to join the session. I have a visual whiteboard that the student sees, and that's where most of the visual explanations are done. The face-to-face sessions are similar, but without the need for a zoom video call.
In all my lessons, students are introduced to different methods, where possible, and are encouraged ro choose the method that works best for them. My lessons are all about what is best for the student and how can they succeed. Feedback is given consistently to both students, and formative assessments are done intermittently to check progress.
