For GCSE level students, I like to use a range of techniques for English Literature such as conceptual and thematic mind maps, quote banks and essay question planning. For English Language I use practice papers to develop comprehension skills as well as creative writing exercises to enhance innovation. For 11+ and SAT students, I like to focus primarily on past papers but also like to include grammar exercises and writing tasks. I am super friendly and love to engage with the student I'm working with in order to establish what format of learning works best for them, and I am able to then adapt my lesson-style in order to suit their preferences and needs.
I attended the Tiffin Girls' School and achieved an 8 at GCSE and an A in my English Literature A-level, which has allowed me to hone my revision techniques and exam skills which I hope to share with the students I teach. I have previously tutored primary school children in Literacy and secondary school children in English Literature allowing me to develop and adapt my tutoring skills.
A typical lesson normally lasts between 45 mins - 1 hour, however I am very flexible with how my tutees work and aim to prioritise the method in which they learn best. I like to ensure that no student feels like their time is being wasted and so I am keen on communicating with them to create a level of transparency about what they feel they require from my lessons.
