About me

Here’s what my mentorship lessons look like — so you know if we’d be a good fit:

*1. Lesson Format: Structured but Student-Led*
Mentorship isn’t a lecture. It’s a partnership with a plan.

*Typical 60-min session flow:*
1. *Check-in - 10 min*: Wins, losses, energy check. “What’s keeping you up at night?” We start where you’re actually at.

2. *Skill/Theme Deep Dive - 25 min*: Each cycle we pick 1 core theme: decision-making, boundary-setting, leading peers, navigating stigma, career mapping. I teach a framework, then we apply it to your situation.
3. *Case Clinic - 20 min*: You bring a real problem. We unpack it using the GROW model: Goal, Reality, Options, Will. I won’t tell you what to do — I’ll ask the questions that help _you_ figure it out.
4. *Accountability + Next Play - 5 min*: You choose 1 action before next time. I send a voice note mid-week to check in, not to nag.

*Formats I use*: 1:1 monthly intensives, bi-weekly 45-min calls, or 3-month group cohorts of 5-7 youth leaders. All include WhatsApp support between sessions + shared Google doc for tracking growth.

*2. Content + Dynamics: Real Skills for Real Roles*
I mentor adolescents, YAC members, peer educators, and community mobilizers. So the content is built for AYP leadership, not corporate jargon.
Pillar What We Actually Work On
**Self-Leadership** Values mapping, managing burnout, imposter syndrome, saying no without guilt. MHPSS tools you can use *and* teach
**Peer Leadership** Running safe Talk Circles, giving feedback to fellow youth, handling conflict in groups, facilitating without dominating
**Systems Navigation** How to speak to adults/clinics/NGOs and be heard. Writing proposals, reading power dynamics, advocating for SRHR services
**Future-Building** CV + bio for youth work, public speaking for summits, turning your lived experience into leadership credibility
Dynamics: This is not “let me tell you my success story.” It’s 50/50. I share frameworks + mistakes I’ve made. You bring your context + decisions. We role-play hard conversations, draft messages to partners, and debrief after you try something new. Expect honesty, homework, and the occasional tough question like “Is that story true, or is it just comfortable?”

For YAC context: I practice advising adults, co-designing programs, and staying grounded when community work gets heavy. Sessions include safeguarding, ethical storytelling, and self-care plans.

3. My Experience: Why Trust Me With This
mentoring adolescents and youth in Southern Africa on leadership, MHPSS, and youth-led advocacy
- *Background*: Designed and ran mentorship tracks for YACs, peer educators, and community mobilizers across 6 countries. Trained 200+ youth leaders
- *Approach*: Trauma-informed + strengths-based. I’ve been the mentee who was talked _at_, so I don’t do that to others
- *Specialty*: Helping youth turn “I have lived experience” into “I have professional expertise.” I know that transition because I’ve lived it

Who This Is For
- You’re a YAC member, peer educator, or young activist who feels the weight of representing others
- You’ve been asked to “lead” but nobody taught you _how_
- You’re navigating school, SRHR decisions, family pressure, AND community work
- You want a thinking partner, not another person telling you what to do

Who It’s Not For
People wanting me to fix their problems or write their proposals. I’ll walk with you, but I won’t walk _for_ you. Mentorship requires you to show up, even messy.

First session: We do a Mentorship Map — where you are now, where you want to be in 6 months, and what’s in the way. If you don’t leave with clarity, the session’s free.

Quick test: What’s one decision you’re stuck on right now — big or small? Tell me, and I’ll show you the first question I’d ask as your mentor.
