I have experience teaching a classroom full of students as well as 1-to-1 sessions. During the first session I like to find out more about the student themselves; i.e. do they like the subject? What in particular are they struggling with? What are their goals? Etc. I would then craft my lessons accordingly. Our lessons would be online and I would have a specially crafted PowerPoint for each student. The PowerPoints would have a mix of theory and worked examples to make sure the lessons aren't boring. Each online session would be recorded and the student would be sent the PowerPoints made after each lesson, so they can come back and view the lessons on their own time. I would also be available to contact via email regarding any questions outside lesson and aim to respond within a day to any queries asked. The lessons would take an hour each and focus on a specific topic which ensures that the students understand the topic rather than just memorising the content and spitting it out on paper. I would also have bimonthly 'revision' sessions where I go over the work in previous lessons to ensure better understanding and retention of the content.
