I am very enthusiastic and feel I am a very approachable and easy to talk to person. As I am currently a student, I am in touch with current teaching methods and practices, so know how to offer students the best support. I am very flexible, and will adapt each session to the individual needs of the student and goal, and will work at any pace or level to achieve this. I have experience tutoring Maths from SATs to GCSE level. My typical lesson begins with a short tarter task, usually some quick questions across a range of topics, often touching on topics previously covered to reinforce knowledge, as well as building up to the main lesson so it feels more manageable and less daunting. After that and in an hour's session, I tend to focus on one or two topics. To start with, we have a chat about how the student feels about the particular topic and the relevant understanding required to tackle the questions. Next, I will do a demo and we will answer a question together, before encouraging the student to answer a similar question(s) independently, although I am always on standby ready to help. We will continue like this, and move on to tougher questions. I always like to finish on a particularly tricky question so students end the session with a strong sense of achievement. Afterwards, we reflect on the difficulty and progress made and build a plan for the next session. However, if students are super confident, we can dig in to harder questions straight away, although I believe reflection is always an important tool for self improvement.
