Katie Hart

Hi I'm Katie and I'm a qualified teacher with a PGCE with QTS from the University of Oxford in Secondary School Physics. I can also teach Chemistry and Biology up to GCSE level and I have 3 years of experience doing online tutoring and have worked in 3 different schools in my career so far.

I am a friendly, patient and enthusiastic tutor with a strong academic background in Physics and several years of experience working with students of different ages and abilities. I have a 2:1 BSc in Physics with Astrophysics from the University of Warwick and completed my PGCE in Secondary Physics at the University of Oxford. Through my teacher training, I gained experience teaching both GCSE and A-Level Physics across two schools, developing my ability to explain challenging ideas clearly and adapt lessons to suit different learning styles.

Alongside my teacher training, I have worked as a graduate boarding tutor at Cheltenham College, where I supported students academically as well as providing pastoral care. I have also tutored GCSE and A-Level students in Physics and Maths, as well as mature students, so I am comfortable working with a wide range of ages and confidence levels.

As a tutor, I aim to create a relaxed and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I believe that understanding the reasoning behind a concept is much more valuable than simply memorising an answer, so I try to break difficult topics down into manageable steps and use examples that make them feel more intuitive. I am particularly passionate about helping students build confidence in subjects they may initially find intimidating. I also tailor my approach to each individual student, as I know that everyone learns differently.
