I can easily tell you that I have a Bachelor's in English Literature from UNC Chapel Hill (USA) and an MLitt from the University of St Andrews. What is perhaps more interesting to note, however, is that English used to be my least favorite subject.
I am confident in helping authors gain confidence in their writing by doing away with any fears surrounding the subject. Our sessions will primarily be led by a simple motto - you are the expert of your own writing! I'm here to help guide you in the right direction through close reading, analysis of instructor feedback, and open discussion. I want you to leave each session feeling encouraged - my goal is to help you hone your critical thinking skills, synthesize arguments, and ultimately present a body of writing that you can confidently claim as your own.
Each session will begin with a clear outline of your needs, a clarification of the assignment and instructor expectations (where applicable), and a close reading of trouble spots - or brainstorming, if the writing has not yet started. We'll finish with an open discussion and an outline of key takeaways so that you feel confident in how best to proceed. The goal of our meetings is for you to walk away feeling more confident as a writer. As such, my job is not to tell you what to do, but to show you the tools to get there.
I'm very much looking forward to the possibility of working with you - hopefully chat soon!
