Hi, I’m Kathy! I’m an experienced tutor with a strong academic background and a friendly, supportive approach to teaching. I have been tutoring privately since 2017 and previously worked as a Student-Athlete Tutor at university , where I supported students across a range of subjects and abilities. I've also been a private tutor for children between 5-18 for a range of subjects and mentoring programs.
My lessons are tailored to each student rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach. I like to begin by identifying the areas a student finds difficult, then break topics down into manageable steps and build their confidence through worked examples, practice questions and discussion. I can also help with revision strategies, exam technique, organisation and study skills.
I particularly enjoy teaching maths, biology/science, statistics and sport-related subjects, and I am happy to adapt lessons around the student’s school syllabus, upcoming exams or individual goals.
Academically, I studied Public Health Sciences at the University of Michigan before completing postgraduate degrees in Epidemiology and Global Health. I am currently studying for an MSc in Paramedic Science. This gives me a particularly strong background in science, health, maths and statistics.
Alongside my academic career, I have competed in elite-level sport, including representing Great Britain. This has shaped the way I teach: I believe improvement comes from patience, consistency and finding an approach that works for the individual.
Most importantly, I aim to create relaxed lessons where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and building genuine confidence in the subject.
