Hi, I’m Kate, and here’s why you should join my online Spanish classes!
After graduating from university with a first-class degree in Spanish, I’ve spent the last year working as a secondary school English teacher in Galicia, Spain. Prior to this, I have studied Spanish language for over 10 years, my learning including all aspects of Spanish communication: written and oral comprehension, oral production, writing skills, grammar and linguistics, translation practices, as well as aspects of Hispanic culture and history. This year, by living in an environment requiring me to use my language skills 24/7, I have consolidated my education in a real-life setting, and consequently obtained my C1 certificate in advanced Spanish.
The school I worked at in Galicia was in Porto do Son, a small Galician fishing town where many students had no prior knowledge of English whatsoever, so I was required to creatively adapt my teaching methods to suit a wide variety of educative needs, not least because I taught students from age 11 to 18. I have previous experience with teaching also, for example I volunteered with Student Action for Refugees during university, where I delivered English language lessons at the Leeds Refugee Forum, a position which required me to think on my feet and devise interactive learning strategies that could bridge what were often significant communication barriers. I also have experience in teaching English via an online platform, as I have worked for Webex as an online tutor, teaching French adults, meaning I am comfortable with adapting my teaching methods for online delivery, whilst maintaining a standard of professional and engaging lessons.
