I like to take an organized approach. This could be either my student chooses a topic they are struggling on or have an upcoming exam on prior to the lesson or I will chose a topic if they have no topic in mind. I will then print out worksheets and provide them with a notebook for any notes they may want to take. First, I will begin the lesson with a starter which would either be relating to the previous lesson or would be a mixture of different topics varying in difficulty to test my student. Once the five-minute starter is over, we will go through the questions carefully and detail. After this, we will go through the topic my student has chosen, first going through basics and applying this knowledge to common exam questions, taking note of where marks are commonly missed and what a marker would like to see in a Mathematics student's answer sheet. Once the methods are clear with my student, which will take approximately 30-40 minutes, I will then provide my student with a worksheet which they can stick into their notebook in order to do their working out. During this, I am always available to help them and ensure they completely understand how to do each question. The questions provided will vary in difficulty levels so that, in an exam, whether the topic comes up as a 1-marker or 5-marker will not matter as my student will have experience will all varieties of questions.
