Hello! I'm Kate, an experienced teacher with over 15 years of experience in education. I'm a native British English speaker with a neutral, standard British accent, specialising in helping intermediate and advanced learners improve their speaking skills, prepare for English language exams and develop more natural-sounding pronunciation.

I hold a CELTA qualification, a PGCE and a Master's degree in Applied Linguistics. Having studied linguistics at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, I have a particular interest in phonetics and phonology, which has led me to specialise in British English pronunciation, connected speech and accent development.

Exam Preparation – IELTS, TOEFL and Cambridge Exams
Are you planning to study or work in an English-speaking country? I have specialist training in IELTS and TOEFL preparation and experience helping students develop the skills and confidence needed to achieve their target scores. Lessons focus on exam techniques, fluency, vocabulary, grammatical accuracy and developing natural, well-structured speaking responses.

British English Pronunciation
Would you like to sound more natural and confident when speaking English? I particularly enjoy helping students improve their pronunciation, understand connected speech and develop clearer, more fluent spoken English. We'll work on individual sounds, word stress, sentence stress, intonation and the way native speakers naturally link and reduce sounds in everyday conversation.
I use a variety of resources, including articles, textbooks and specially designed exercises, alongside practical examples and personalised feedback.

My Teaching Approach
I generally work with upper-intermediate and advanced adult students, including university students, academics and professionals. However, I love meeting people from different backgrounds and cultures and tailor my lessons to each student's individual needs and goals.
I'm a patient, friendly and supportive tutor who believes that effective learning starts with understanding the student. I take time to identify your strengths and areas for improvement and develop a structured learning plan to help you make progress. My lessons are engaging, practical and carefully tailored, with plenty of opportunities to practise and receive constructive feedback.
