As a former Head of Science, I bring both extensive classroom experience and a deep understanding of what examiners are looking for at GCSE level. I teach Biology, Chemistry and Physics, covering both Combined Science and Separate Sciences across all major exam boards, including AQA, Edexcel and OCR.

My lessons are tailored to each student, whether they need support building confidence in science, securing a pass grade, or pushing towards grades 7-9. At the start of tuition, I identify areas of strength and weakness and create a personalised learning plan focused on the topics that will have the biggest impact on progress.

Lessons are highly interactive and structured. A typical session includes:

Reviewing prior learning through retrieval practice and quick knowledge checks
Teaching and explaining key scientific concepts using clear, relatable examples
Developing exam skills through GCSE-style questions and mark scheme analysis
Addressing misconceptions and tackling common exam pitfalls
Providing targeted homework, revision resources and independent learning strategies

A particular strength of my teaching is helping students understand how to answer exam questions effectively, not just learning the content. Many students know more science than they realise but lose marks through exam technique. I focus on command words, extended responses, calculations and practical application questions to help students maximise their grades.

Having led a successful science department, I have extensive experience supporting students of all abilities, including high-attaining students aiming for top grades and those who may lack confidence or find science challenging. My approach is supportive, patient and encouraging, creating a positive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes as part of the learning process.

My goal is simple: to help every student develop confidence, improve their understanding of science, and achieve the very best GCSE results they are capable of.
