I'm Karter, an A-Level Maths tutor with a strong academic background from Pate's Grammar School, one of the top-ranked state schools in the UK (6th nationally, Sunday Times Parent Power 2026). Having gone through the GCSE-to-A-Level transition myself, I understand first-hand how challenging that jump can be, both in terms of the maths itself and adjusting to sixth form life more broadly.

My lessons focus on building a genuine understanding of core mathematical concepts rather than memorising methods. I break problems down step-by-step, encourage students to reason through why a method works (not just how), and use plenty of practice questions to reinforce learning. I also incorporate past paper questions closer to exam periods to help students get comfortable with exam technique and timing.

Sessions typically run for 1 hour, though this can be adjusted depending on the student's needs, whether it's a quick topic recap or a more in-depth session covering multiple areas.

Alongside the maths itself, I share practical study strategies that helped me succeed at A-Level: time management, effective revision techniques, and general guidance on what to expect during Years 12 and 13. I'm also happy to help with UCAS related questions and support, for things like university choices for your specific course or how to build your personal statement.
