I am a professional portrait artist. I work mainly in oil but can use acrylics. I am trained classically and added the more popular style of bold colours. That is what you will learn in my classes. Teaching art online is a matter of demonstrating and doing. The lessons will be hybrid in the sense that we have 1-1 sessions to explain (demonstrations), questions and feedback on work, and sessions you can do on your own. These are about the knowledge of materials, colour mixing, values, and using a viewfinder and picture plane to learn about composition, basic head drawing and art history.

I have taught and mentored for over 20 years. I taught small groups and individuals. To teach you the basic needs to see and then draw/paint a self portrait from life which will take 5 weeks. Yes, you read that right. Yet, it all depends on your efforts to do the tasks given. The live sessions will be through zoom. In that session I will give you a PDF with the basics of what you need. Want to go from drawing to painting, you need another 5 weeks. That is up to you. It is how I work through my own platform, which works perfectly. Art is not a skill you learn once, it is a lifetime journey. I hope I can inspire you to take that journey and enjoy the process rather than the end result.
