Karen Collier

I have enjoyed teaching for 20 years. I have experience in different schools and age groups. I work hard to engage primary aged pupils in whatever area of support they need. I like to get to know my students, so they can feel at ease and we can work at areas of difficulty, build confidence and prioritise their needs. I like to be creative and listen to my students.
I can work on academic learning, but also supporting students with social and emotional development. I can support students with reading comprehension, speaking and writing skills. Also other curriculum areas.
I make sure I plan ahead of lessons, so that my students get the best of their time with me. I like to keep checking that the student understands each task so they progress well and we can recap on their learning after each lesson. These skills can be practised until the student feels they are improving. Learning different strategies to help them break down tasks and understand questions so they are less daunted when in whole school class situations.
My hobbies are theatre visits, walking, singing and listening to music.
